Originally from San Francisco, CA, Melody started dancing at the age of 5. She began training mainly in tap, and soon after ballet, lyrical, and jazz became part of her weekly schedule.
Melody was a founding member of The Dance Company of San Francisco under the direction of her mentor, Chris Jacobsen. She also attended the School of the Arts High School, directed by Elvia Marta, training in classical and contemporary ballet, Afro-Haitian, and modern jazz blues.
Melody moved to Los Angeles in the Fall of 2003 to explore new opportunities. In 2005, she was a finalist on the very first season of FOX’s hit television show, “So You Think You Can Dance”, where she was the runner-up and top female dancer. This experience opened up many doors for her, leading her to travel to the Philippines, Ireland, Canada, Turks and Caicos of the Caribbean Islands, and Singapore as a teacher and guest performer.
Her credits include Sonya Tayeh Dance Company, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, The Greatest Showman Live Commercial, Glee, the MTV European Music Awards, Wetten Das, Radio Disney Music Awards with Julia Michaels, Bunheads, America’s Got Talent, and was an All-Star on the eighth season of “So You Think You Can Dance”. She performed with Miley Cyrus’ “Gypsy Heart Tour” in South America, Philippines, and Australia. Throughout her career, she has modeled for Capezio, Nappytabs, Discount Dance Supply, and Dance Spirit, and her photo was chosen as the cover of Inside Dance Magazine’s July 2016 issue. She is a brand ambassador for Fabletics Activewear and Apolla Performance.
Melody continues to travel and spread her knowledge, passion, and love of dance as part of Art of Movement Dance Convention, SHOCK The Intensive, Star Systems, The Movement, Humans on Tour, was a guest faculty member on Jump, and occasionally teaches at EDGE Performing Arts Center in Hollywood.
